Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 8, 2026

A Summer Under the Vine (asummerunderthevine.com, the “Site”) is operated by Michael Kulwiec, publishing as Almost Supper Time (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Information you give us. We collect information you choose to provide when you:

  • Send us a message through our contact form or by email
  • Subscribe to our email updates

This may include your name, your email address, and anything you choose to write in your message, such as your church or small group name.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • Browser type and version, and device type
  • Pages visited and time spent on them
  • The website that referred you to the Site
  • General location (city or region), derived from your IP address

This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described below.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Reply to your questions and messages
  • Send email updates about A Summer Under the Vine, only if you signed up for them
  • Understand how the Site is used so we can improve it
  • Protect the Site from spam and abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

Service Providers

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the Site. They receive only the information they need to do their job.

  • Mailchimp (The Rocket Science Group LLC) stores the names and email addresses of people who subscribe to updates, and sends our emails. Mailchimp may record whether an email was opened or a link was clicked. See Mailchimp’s privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) helps us understand how visitors use the Site, such as which pages are visited and how people arrived. It uses cookies and does not give us your name or email address. We do not combine Analytics data with information that identifies you. Google’s use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • [Web host name] hosts the Site and processes standard server logs.
  • Google reCAPTCHA (Google LLC) helps protect our contact and signup forms from spam and bots. It collects information such as your IP address and how you interact with the page, and sends it to Google for analysis. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Links to Other Sites

The Site links to retailers and other websites, such as places to buy the book. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Retailers such as Amazon may set their own cookies when you visit their sites.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. The Site uses:

  • Essential cookies, which the Site needs to work properly and securely
  • Analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics to measure how the Site is used

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect how the Site works. Blocking analytics cookies does not.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common standard for how websites should respond, so the Site does not currently respond to these signals. You can still opt out of Google Analytics using the add-on linked above.

Your Privacy Choices and California Rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we have about you
  • Correct information that is inaccurate
  • Delete your information, subject to limited legal exceptions

California residents also have rights under California law, including the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, and the right not to be treated differently for making a request. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.

To make a request, email us at the address below. We will respond within 45 days.

Data Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No website or email transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. Email subscribers’ information is kept until you unsubscribe. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond and follow up.

Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Unsubscribing

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in any of our emails or by contacting us. We follow the CAN-SPAM Act and process unsubscribe requests promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the Effective Date above.
